My Story
My Roots
Hiii! I’m Sekina, founder of Sekina’s Realm, a space born from my personal journey of pain, resilience, healing, and radical self-love. I’m a Black Indigenous woman raised by Black queens who immersed me into our tribal traditions from a young. At age 17, I underwent a life altering spine surgery while experiencing homelessness. Couch surfing between my friends houses so I could physically heal, I learned from a very young age the limits of my body as a human being. As a first-generation college graduate and eldest daughter, I’ve learned what it means to carry the weight of survival while still choosing to grow, heal, and show up for myself, my family, and my community.
What started as a personal yoga blog in 2017 has transformed into a soul fueled mission for self-care that’s rooted in truth, rebirth, and having the courage to imagine a better world for ourselves, our planet, and the generations after us. Through yoga, meditation, and clean, local, chemical-free products, I aim to create a space that honors every part of all of us, the light and the dark, the happy and the angry, and throwing spiritual bypassing to the waste side. My mission is to empower YOU. To see you. To accept you. And to embrace you because it is my HONOR to share space with you.
My hope is for Sekina’s Realm to redefine the wellness narrative, centering those of us who’ve been left out and setting a new standard for our future generations while making our ancestors proud.
